Their boats usually pick up on time or within 10 minutes of the specified arrival. Also, they did take us out for our second dive in the pouring rain since under the water it was fine.

This made the surface interval so much better than if we had had to sit on a pitching boat. We had terrible weather the third day so they took us to the beach for our surface interval since it was pouring and the waves were huge. The dive masters listen to your requests for dive sites and will try to accommodate if the weather allows. I have dove with other operators but always end up going back to the Dive House. This is not the case with some of the other dive operators on the island who will cut the dive to 30 minutes if the majority of the people have run low on air. Instead of forcing the group to go up together, they allow the divers who can stay down longer to do so. The dive masters are aware of where the divers are without interfering with their dive. Their fleet has expanded to five dive boats and they are all great to go out diving. Their service was outstanding then, and continued through the years to be consistently great. I was open water certified on Dive House 2 in 1992. We plan on using Dive House again when we return to Cozumel. Divemasters asked divers for preferred sites, and as we dove four days, we had good diversity in sites, i.e., great coral, nice walls, swim-throughs, etc. Assistants on the boats were most helpful in terms of inserting/removing weights, assisting entry into the boats, removal of gear, etc. Bottled water was provided by Dive House. Safety briefings were conducted prior to each dive, and surface intervals were about an hour. The largest number of divers we had on any dive was six a couple of times there were 10-12 divers on the boat, but there were sufficient number of divemasters such that group size was never too large. We dove from 2-3 different Dive House boats, which are numbered in large red letters on the sides of each boat. The service was excellent and well appreciated. The gear was rinsed and dried after each day's diving by the Dive House staff. We only had to place the gear inside a mesh bag at the end of a day's diving and leave it for the Dive House staff. Our gear was always on board the boat each day of diving, and it was set up by the Dive House staff. We dropped off our gear the day before our first dive, and it was returned to our room at Aura the morning of our departure. Before arriving in Cozumel, I had asked Isabel from Dive House about having our gear taken care of during our stay. However, since the small facility is at Aura, we never had to visit the main shop further away.

Dive House has a small dive shop/shack located right on the Aura property itself its main office is located at or near another resort, Sunscape, which is adjacent to Aura. My wife and I, who are senior citizens, spent a week at Secrets Aura and dove with Dive House for the second year in a row. Needless to say, I was NOT looking forward to it!! I was stressed all that night into the next morning! Luckily, Umberto was a no-show!! I finished up my last 2 dives with an amazing divemaster-Victor!! He was kind, courteous and patient! My skills went smoothly, and I was able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and am now certified!!

The second dive basically went as the first, I felt berated and frustrated, but I was not giving up! After the 2nd dive, we were done for the day(Yay!), only to realize I had to do 2 more dives with him the next day. He wrote the skill out, then underlined it, then rewrote it in all caps! Finally I passed. The rest of skills went about the same! During our surface interval, we were not offered water or snacks and Umberto ignored us until it was time for our next dive. He started out the day angry and rude, never introducing himself, informed me I was to do my skills without any demonstration-just a written command, and yelled at me when my mask fell off! That was just the beginning! Underwater I repeated my skills over and over until he felt I passed, one skill in particular was removing my regulator and blowing little bubbles, he made it clear my bubbles were not small enough for him. My first day of the open water dive for scuba certification was a nightmare!! The divemaster was Umberto.
